This was one of my favorite shows I’ve shot at Strummer’s because, well, nostalgia. Barely-past-teenage me had a gargantuan crush on Monique Powell, which led me to start listening to Save Ferris more seriously and, as it turned out, they really were (and still are) a fun and tightly-talented squad of goofballs with instruments and, goddamn, can Monique sing!
When I saw the legendary Marky Ramone’s show at Strummer’s being announced, I immediately hit up the peeps at Numbskull and asked if I could come out of my weak-ass version of retirement and come out blasting!
An epic night of hip-hop with one of my favorite hip-hop groups of all time: the iconic Souls of Mischief with special apperances by Raw Wattage & BKR. Keep your eyes peeled for Planet Asia on stage dropping a few bars as well.
Up until this year, I hadn’t heard of Turnover until my friend Zayda turned me onto them. As soon as they came up on the roster for Strummer’s in Fresno, I was all over it when Numbskull needed a photographer for the show.
Since I’d never actually shot skaters in my life AND I had just scored a Canon 5D Mk.IV the week before, I figured the best way to break it in was to go shoot a bunch of degenerate skaters in Fresno.
I’ve been waiting to see Agent Orange since I last saw them at the Lucky 13th Warped Tour in 2007. Tonight, I not only saw one of my favorite bands from the era, but I also captured their raucous show at Strummer’s.

I love Durand Jones & The Indications. They’re my favorite neo soul band by a country mile and they get better and sound tighter with each album. Not to mention that almost everyone in the band has their own side projects that are all equally dope. This was my second time shooting them and my favorite time I’ve seen them live. They age like wine.
