The Job

Boudoir Photos.

For the third time in my life, I had the distinct honor of being trusted with someone’s first photo shoot and Ashlyn not only did remarkably well, but she turned out to be a natural.

She messaged me a couple of months before asking me if I’d done a boudoir photo shoot before. I had, but it had been 20 years, I shot it on film and the couple (yes, couple) were very private, so I turned over negatives as well as delivered 3 prints. I shot it on a Canon Rebel 2000 with a 50mm 1.4. Having said that, I was very, very nervous about this one because 1) I haven’t done one in almost 20 years and 2) I have specifically avoided this kind of shoot because the first one was simply out of my comfort zone even as a twenty-something know-nothing with a shitty camera and 6 rolls of Kodak TMax 3200.

We planned this a few weeks ahead of time, made a Pinterest mood board with poses she wanted to use for this shoot and she had several wardrobe changes. Overall, she was very happy with her photos and I’m very thankful she chose to trust me with this.

Just another reminder that you should always invest in yourself and consider professional portraits; risqué or not. Take the chance and take the photos. You won’t regret it.
