So, as many of you may or may not know, we decided to take a break from our class due to some unforeseen circumstances in which our cameras had to be returned to the school. On the bright side, these past few weeks served as good time for me to get busy finding all new (read: used, but new to us) cameras to use. After a couple of weeks, I was able to come up with a few cameras for our class to continue. Some were donated and some were donated from my stash at home. If you see Rick (one of the DJ instructors) from Roots around campus, show the man some love; he donated a few of our cameras and lenses. Our class was supposed to start up again on February 14th but, given that it was Valentine’s Day, I didn’t think many of you would stick around when there was so much chocolate and roses to be handed out and being stuck inside a darkroom wouldn’t have done any of that chocolate any good.
Having said that, I set out a couple of signup sheets for the class around the campus and, for those of you who signed up and left me your email address, this entry is your beacon call to relay a message to you: We’re set to start up our class again on Tuesday, February 21st in Room J-12 at 4:00 and will continue to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the same time after that; Friday labs will be decided on an as-needed basis.
I have a good number of working cameras that belong to me that I can check out to you all but (preferably), if you have your own SLR camera, please bring it in. Bringing your own camera holds the distinct advantage of it being, you know, yours and you will ultimately be the one using that camera long after you’ve left the confines of this campus, so you will be the one most familiar with its functions and quirks. Some of you have already brought in your cameras for minor repairs or parts, so keep bringing those in.
So, once again, we will be starting class up again on Tuesday, February 21st in Room J-12 at 4:00. If you have any questions about class or if you need help with your camera, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at juanm.verduzco@gmail.com or simply come by the Student Lounge (Room S-12) today after school to see me for details. All things being equal, I will see hopefully you all on Tuesday after school. Please follow this blog or subscribe to it by typing in your email address in the box to the right so that you can see these updates in the future.
Oh! I see you’ve made it to the end of this blog entry! Just so you don’t feel like I have wasted a lot of your time, here is a picture of my Christmas gift—M83’s “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming—spinning on my turntable:
“The city is my church…”
