HomiEats – Tacos El Rojo + Zayda
Haven’t been here in a while. This place never disappoints and I finally got the pleasure of introducing yet another homie to the greatness that is the best Mexican food in Vise City by a country mile. 🤤

Finally got to hang out with Zayda’s coworker Amy today. She’s also a huge photography nerd, so the logical course of events had to be that we all spent the day on the road shooting photos. Shame we got hailed on, otherwise we would have made it all the way to Kings Canyon and back…
Fried eggs, black beans, pico de gallo, panela, handmade tortillas.
I hella fucked this up, because that pasta didn’t cook without breaking apart while stirring so it wouldn’t stick together. Every other flavor was on point. Recipe here: Chicken Pesto & Tomato Confit Pasta Ingredients Instructions
Thanks to Ziah for the meat delivery. 🤤 Homemade chimichurri, pickled red onions, alfalfa sprouts, hand-pressed blue corn tortillas.
My homie Z needs a place to crash for a while. I have a spare room. Problem worked itself out. In the meantime, we’re gonna be eating hella good food. 🤤 For her first night, it was flame-seared ribeye, chimichurri and baked potatoes with bacon-smoked sea salt. 😮💨
First time in maybe 2 years that I didn’t order the chef’s choice dinner set. Still better than 90% of restaurants out there. 🤤
I originally started to write this a year ago about Mac Miller’s impact on hip-hop for his birthday, before it devolved into a pretentious thought piece I couldn’t finish because it made me cringe and I deleted it. A year later, I finally realized what I started writing about: substance abuse and the downward spiral.
This is dedicated to my friend Coop. We all saw the signs and we ignored them and, for that, I am sorry. 💔
