A Fierce Creature. Poof was the runt of her litter. My sister and I actually didn’t call her “Poof” when she was born. She was born and named “Little” because we didn’t expect her to live past 2 years old. She GREW into the “Poof” we know her as today: A calculating hunting machine that defied any expectations anyone had of her. She was also the fiercest animal I’ve ever come across. I don’t speak for any of you, but these days I wish I had her rage and stamina, for they were (and still are) unmatched by any yardstick For perseverance I still hold today. National Geographic might have a library of lions, tigers and panthers for show, but they don’t have this noble beast. Sleep well, lioness. At 15+ years, you weren’t a good friend and companion to all of us. You were THE BEST friend and companion to all of us. I know your final years lounging on Alexita’s window were deservedly your best. 😸
